The beginning stages of the process were pretty standard. I had a phone screen with a Talent Sorucing Specialist and then got an e-mail the next day requesting the interview. I met with who would potentially be my direct manager and then the Strategy manager for talent. Both were awesome! They really made it a conversation type of meeting and it was very comfortable -- I was really interested in learning more about the team and Flipp.
For the 2nd interview, it was a case study presentation which was easy since it was a scenario that I deal with on a regular basis. Before going into the interview I met some of the other team members when they came out to say hi. I thought that was great way to meet the rest of the team and to discuss more with them about the culture and the role itself. Once again the interview was fantastic and it was more like a brainstorming session and I really learned a lot from the team in a short period of time. It really felt like I was meant for this job and I couldn't get along more with this team. I was super excited to say the least.
The 3rd session was with the co-founders. I found the tone of the interview very different. They asked me some great questions I have never been asked before and it was the most difficult part of the interview process. However, it didn't feel like a conversation or upbeat like the other interviews. It felt more like an hostile conversation, or at least that's what it came across as. I know this is the part of the process to test if I would be a good fit for the culture but I felt like the decision was made before I even step foot in the interview. Coming out of the interview that was the moment I knew they weren't going to present an offer -- it was not a good feeling and it also made me question if I wanted to work for a company where the leadership left me feeling that what I am doing currently isn't a good enough job as well as just being disinterested in anything I had to say.
After that, I needed to follow-up for about a week before I was able to get my formal feedback and that they did not want to move forward. I think overall this was a great experience and I know the team I would of worked with directly would have been awesome but I think from a senior management perspective the ending to this process turned me off from the company. Those are the individuals that in end make the decisions of advancement, development or any other of my career decisions within the company. If they treated prospective new employees like that I wouldn't want to know how they would have made me feel as a current employee.
Didn't know how to rate this because the team is awesome but the senior management in the interviewing process could use some development. Possibly introduce them in the 2nd interview so they can get a feel of what the individual is capable of for the case study?
