This role was in the same industry and seemed like it would be a good alignment with existing practices, so I followed up and had a conversation with a recruiter and then a follow-up. The conversation seemed pretty okay, follow up was a whiteboarding exercise. A template problem was given to a senior leader candidate on "how to add an additional tab to a fitness tracking app" if you Google this, you'll get answers they probably thought were right. Conversation with the two was welcoming and engaging, though, before this, the recruiter said this portion of the interview was often discouraged by folks. It was bad.
I had an individual with decades less experience than I graded my approach without asking fundamental questions about the problems we're solving in our industry. I gave explicit feedback to the recruiter following this, but I got no response. This isn't how you interview a senior leader, and it's honestly concerning that they think they'll get quality candidates if this practice continues. You're in a very niche industry that requires a lot of collaboration, insight-building, and process advocating. It was a waste of my time.
