The recruiter reached out to me, and we set up a phone screen. She asked me a bit about myself, and then admitted she really didn't know much about the role or of tech in general, and allowed me to ask questions about the role. Frustratingly, I spent nearly all the time trying to ascertain if this was an applications-level or AOSP-level role without a clear answer, as my experience in at the applications-level of custom AOSP platforms. Finally, the recruiter sent me a clearer listing which confirmed that the role was for the applications level, and I shared that this is the sort of work I have been doing for the past five years.
I hear back from her a day later telling me that they're going with other applications as they need someone "with experience." It was clear the recruiter was working with an insurmountable knowledge gap, and the experience was frustrating as I had to explain to the recruiter the difference between these types of developers during our call. I felt like I was doing her job for her.
