      I interviewed at Forward

      Interview

They broke the law during my interview process. Twice. After keeping my resume on file for over a year, Forward reached out for a newly opened position. Never requested an updated resume, none of my interviewers had even looked at LinkedIn to see what I'd done since 2019. Interview itself was very casual, rarely discussed the job needs, who I'd support, what the team looked like, but worst of all - no discussion of salary despite my asking multiple times. I was told it was "competitive with other regional salaries, but we're not tech - we'd rather invest in our company, we aren't a non-profit but we act like it." Which was a red flag because nonprofit salaries are regularly 20-40% below market average - not competitive at all. I asked the recruiter and was told I'd be able to ask the folks during interviews for salary details. I did and was told they didn't know. After passing 3 interviews I was asked to complete an assignment which they estimated would take 4 hours. I emailed Forward saying "As much as I would like to move to the next stage with Forward, in the spirit of transparency and equity to make informed decisions, I would request that either a salary range or email where I can invoice up to four hours of my time for this assignment be provided. " This was their response: "I was able to sync with my manager and although we would love to move forward, unfortunately we cannot accommodate your requests. I appreciate your transparency with what you need in order to move forward." According to California law "Pursuant to Labor Code section 432.3, upon reasonable request, an employer shall provide the pay scale for a position to an applicant applying for employment. Recent amendments define a reasonable request as one made after an applicant has completed an initial interview with the employer." I had to ask twice for a salary range and was outright told they wouldn't divulge then stopped the interview process because of it - it's straight up illegal. Incredibly disappointed. No reasonable company should pride themselves on keeping candidates in the dark. It's worse that this company is in healthcare and completely ignorant of or defiant of the laws regarding employment.
