I applied through a recruiter. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at Forward (San Francisco, CA) in Mar 2022
Interview
Pros:
- Most team members appear smart and friendly
- Interesting case study and Jam problems
Cons:
- No transparency on the exact position you're interviewing for
- No transparency on how many steps there are in the interview process / what may come next / what the full circuit will be
- Weird hesitations to reveal Forward's vision and business model until the very end of the process
- The Jam prompt was misleading. I spent a great amount of time completing the prompts in advance only to discover that the team was more interested in tangential questions
- Was told I could reach out with questions about the Jam prompt, but when I did, they said they could not answer them
- During the Jam, one teammate was strangely aggressive
- During the Jam, teammates attacked the assumptions I provided, but I only provided these assumptions due to the vagueness of the prompt itself. This was quite clumsy
- General poor communication surrounding the nature of the prompts vs. the actual Jam session
Rigorous interview. There were a couple of intro calls with one being a more case study type interview asking about more financial questions as well as "what you'd do" situational questions.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Forward (San Francisco, CA) in Apr 2024
Interview
Very weird and cult like. Fully focused on why you love the company and a mix of automation questions. They clearly want the answer to be that everything is automated

Interview
The interviews themselves are quite standard, but the process is lengthy. Expect a screening call, ~4 1:1 team interviews, then a full day onsite, which includes several case studies and back to back 30 minute to 1 hour interviews. This day did not include a lunch break, which was off putting, and several of the interviews actually took place outside, walking around the city. In fact, there was no break at all during the 6 hour onsite. I found the people at Forward intelligent, insightful, and passionate. The experience of meeting them all was wonderful. That said, their offer was shockingly low. Purposefully not providing realistic salary ranges during the interview process is disrespectful of a candidate's time.
