Interview process was long and drawn out. Went through 3 rounds before finding out I wasn't moving on. Some people didn't seem too interested in speaking with me. The actual interview panel changed multiple times and I wasn't informed until being in the room with them. Doesn't set up the candidate for success when they don't know who they're even going to speak with. The whole process was very disorganized. Was given an exercise to complete but after submitting it I was told that it's not intended to be a presentation but more of a discussion. Was told that there would be a laptop in the room that I could use for my exercise but that wasn't the case. Two of the four interviewers worked from home that day so there were people on a screen and in the room and it was just very disorganized. Didn't meet the recruiter in person until the in-person interview was over. Was told that he'd be in lobby to greet me but wasn't. Wasn't given a job offer, but wasn't really surprised since the in-person interview was so messy. Asked for feedback and was told that they don't provide any feedback likely for legal reasons (?). Don't understand that at all- you can still give some feedback after a long interview process.
This company has a great mission, but really needs to stop thinking like a startup and get more professional. 400+ people is really pushing the limits of a "startup".
They are supposedly back in the office full time which really isn't sustainable in the post-covid era. I was also told that they "can't pay Google salaries so one challenge is to figure out how to compensate in other ways". That was definitely a red flag.
I asked each interviewer what keeps them at the company, other than the mission, and no one had any other reasons. That's another red flag. Mission will only get you so far.
