I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Forward (San Francisco, CA) in Oct 2022
Interview
Most of the interviews were fine but during my last 1:1 with an engineer, it felt like they were looking for a specific answer about how special their company is. I think their mission is really impactful but I was honest about how I kind of stumbled upon the role. They ended up continuing to press me, asked me about all the companies I was talking to, and how would I decide between offers which felt awkward. Also the interviewer was super late to the interview without any apologies.
Portfolio application, recruiter call, designer interview with a case study, in office 3 part interview chat with engineer, white boarding with PM, and white boarding with the head of design

Question 1
Second white boarding problem with the head of design is "there is an 1000 floor elevator" with no additional context
Very long and tedious process. My last round (onsite) took almost the full day as the recruiter scheduled 1 hour breaks between each interview. I was just waiting around for the next person to join the call. The last person I talked to joined late and he seemed a bit condescending. I explained I didn't know much about healthcare but was interested in learning more, but that didn't seem enough.
I applied online. I interviewed at Forward in Feb 2023
Interview
Had respectful, honest, and inspiring conversations for all the steps (recruiter call, portfolio review, whiteboard exercises) until the on-site. One of the on-site interviews for culture fit was shocking and disappointing at how much the tone departed from the other interviews. The interviewer criticized the experiences on my resume and dismissed my personal reasons for believing in Forward's mission.

Question 1
How do you define impact? What other companies are you interested in, and why?
