I applied online. I interviewed at Foxit in Jun 2021
Interview
One of the more unprofessional interviews I have experienced in a while.
In the interview I explained how I picked a liberal arts degree in college but then wanted to change my career path to technology after I had graduated. He immediately interrupted me and exclaimed, “REALLY?! Why did you pick THAT major? What were you even planning to do with that once you graduated college?”
It was so unprofessional. The vibe did not even feel like it was good natured ribbing, but as if the interviewer wanted to put me down for his ego. It was a giant red flag for me and I almost called him out on it, but I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and continue.
Next red flag was when he asked if I was willing to take on a more beginner role if they decided I did not have experience for the role I was interviewing for. When I told him no, he curtly asked, “Why’s that?!”. For the rest of the interview I could tell from his vibe and body language that my unwillingness to take on a lesser role made me an automatic rejection.
The interviewer’s patronizing behavior when he found out my major in college was the first red flag. It also seemed like he pulled off a bait and switch in regards to the position, which was the second red flag.
