I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Fractal (Bengaluru) in May 2016
Interview
Off Campus at Bangalore Office
>Resume Shortlist. About 35-40 students attended the interview.
>Aptitude Test-60 questions 60 mins
>3 Rounds of Interview. 2 Technical 1 HR
The first interview didn't go quite well. I had a small sentiment analysis project in R. The questions were asked on that. Then a general real time analytics question relating to what the company does. I answered it all but the recruiter said I had to go deep in whatever I learn. Anyways by the end of this I understood my fault. The sentiment analysis I had done was very good wrt programming but could have been better wrt different types of analysis.
The second interview went well. As I knew what my error was I corrected it by highlighting more on sentiment analysis than the whole code when they asked me to explain it. The interviewer was satisfied.
The HR round was a telephonic interview. 40 mins. This was above average.
The process took a whole day. It was very smooth. All in all I wasn't positive about being selected but it didnt matter. I had learnt a lot from it.
Anyways I was selected the next day :D
Interview questions [5]
Question 1
Take me through ur project?
Why had you not done any internships?
Case study, A company released a bread toaster in the market during diwali. It was a grand success. But after 6 months it found a slight decrease in sales. Now they came to you for a solution. How will you go about it? The company does the sales only through online(flipcart, amazon etc).
He then asked me to prove or disprove the first hypothesis. I have the data of sales for my product but not the rival's product. Maybe just an aggregate sale data for that product type from all companies.
In the next interview I was again asked to take her through my resume and again I was asked about the sentiment analysis. She was more interested in what I wanted to do and how I went about it and what was the result rather than the coding. Also what importance does this have to whoever it may concern.
HR round.
Tell me about yourself?
Why fractal? Why analytics? Why didn't I try during campus placements?
What are your strengths and weakness?
If I'm a manager and I had to motivate two French nationals to do a project how would I go about it?
If I have a project to be submitted tomorrow and my team has not even begun working on it till now what will I do? If I don't finish it within tomorrow company will lose the client. Cant take help from co workers because of confidentiality issues.
Do u know where the international branches of fractal located? CEO of the company?
When I didnt answer she explained everything.
Backlogs etc. (I had one active backlog they were not worried about it :) )
I am excited that you are joining us. Feel free to reach out to me to discuss your interview experience. I look forward to talk and hopefully improve the average interview to a better interview experience.

Interview
It was the most unique interview for me to date! There were 3 rounds for this role:- 1. Technical Interview 2. Case study round 3.HR round
After clearing all the rounds, and submitting the documents, I was told the role went on hold just a day after completing the process.
God knows what the real reason was, but disappointing experience.
