Interview with Hiring Manager, then with head of department and another lead employee under him, then group interview. They then allowed me to talk with one of the employees to ask any questions about the work environment or company. Overall, everyone seemed nice. However, they took me through to the final steps of asking for my salary requirements and checking references. Then they said they went with someone with a formal education in bioinformatics, even though I had already been working in the field for almost 3 years and did a computational dissertation in grad school. They had hired someone with no experience just prior to my interview, so it didn't make sense. I saw they were renewing the job post for months after my interview.
