I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at GEICO (Roanoke, VA) in Jul 2015
Interview
First off I'm not entry level. They treat everyone as if they are so they can offer you bottom dollar. I have 10yrs experience. The process took nearly a month and a half(even though they act like hiring is an express process.) I WANTED TO START ASAP. A month and a half later...Their screening process is lengthy. They drag it out through 4 phone interviews each lasting 30-90 minutes and one intense in person session where they put you through the wash. Stressing scenarios to see if you can handle yourself. It was challenging to say the least but a experience that ultimately was a waste of time. They tell you what the pay is up front and when they say they won't budge they mean it. If your not willing to except the pennies they offer then don't waste your time trying to squeeze an extra 2k or less into salary negotiations. Before negotiations began I researched a fair salary. Turns out Geico has a history of the lowest salaries NATIONWIDE. Pretty sad considering every current/former employee review I read said the position is over worked and under paid. EVERY REVIEW. Training alone is three months, far from home. If you miss a single day in the 3 month period..your fired. One day sick...your fired. They spend 40 million in advertising each year. Great! people DO need to know about the company, but pay your employees. I have relatives in the insurance industry with 30+ years experience and they both say Geico is the bottom of the barrel and to quote them saying "Geico is a sweat shop" was an easy decision not to take the job. I'm sure other positions are great but do your research before you accept. Glassdoor may have saved me years of my life in regret, anxiety, and stress. Look before you leap!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
I can't recall any questions they asked. Very typical stuff.
I applied online. I interviewed at GEICO (Dallas-Fort Worth) in May 2026
Interview
I got a first interview which was a Zoom interview with a single recruiter. It was relatively informal and easy going. They appear to simply want to see if you are who you say you are on your application and you do indeed have the background and knowledge which you claim. My recruiter was very nice and very easy going. She asked just a few very typical questions about my job history. Easy stuff. We had a really positive conversation and she stated she was going to recommend me for an in person interview with the local claims manager. She said that would take place a neutral location such as a collision repair shops so we can discuss my field knowledge. She told me to expect a call from him in the next 3 business days. I received no communication after that. I emailed my recruiter after 2 weeks and asked for any update at all and received no reply. Three weeks after my initial interview I received an email stating I did not get the job.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
Did you provide notice of resignation at your last job?
Informative, not many questions. Tells you
About the job and the pay. then they’ll send your application to the hiring manager if you qualify for the job. from that you will have a second interview. The second interview is when you’re offered the job
1st phone interview with hiring manager, 2nd interview was with the area manager and included a Role Play. They don't expect you to know everything they just want to see how you handle yourself under pressure in my opinion.
