The process was thorough and well-structured, but demanding — expect to invest real time and preparation.
Step 1: HR Screening Call (30 min)
Standard intro call covering your background, motivations, and "why Gartner." Good starting point to gauge fit.
Step 2: First Interview (1h)
With a different HR representative. Includes a 10-15 minute mock sales call plus questions on your background, why sales, and why Gartner. They're clearly looking for curiosity and ambition — come ready to show genuine interest in the industry and the role, not just generic answers.
Step 3: Second Interview (1h)
With a Lead on the team, focused on a deeper skills assessment. Same format as Step 2, but pushed further — you need to demonstrate self-awareness and curiosity. Strongly recommend using the STAR method and the "Power of 3" when answering behavioral questions — structure matters a lot here.
Step 4: Final Panel (1h45–2h)
With your future manager and the VP. Same methodology as previous steps but even more in-depth, with a longer mock call (around 25 minutes). This is the most intense stage — be ready to think on your feet.
Overall
Gartner offers coaching/prep support between each stage, which was genuinely helpful. The process is rigorous but fair — if you prepare properly (STAR method, research the company, practice mock calls), you'll be in good shape. Not a process to take lightly, but a good signal of the bar Gartner sets internally.
