      Account Executive Interview

      Feb 26, 2025
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Irving, TX
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Gartner (Irving, TX) in Feb 2025

      Interview

Recruiter reached out to me. There was 1 call with the recruiter, then 3 formal stages to the interview process. 1st Stage: 60 min call with the recruiter - STAR Behavioral Q&A 2nd Stage: 60 min call with the Lead Skills Assessor - STAR Behavioral Q&A (again) and a 15 minute role play that the recruiter prepped me for. They shortened it to 10 minutes, which was a slight curve ball. 3rd Stage: 90 min call with three VPs of Conference Sales, with a 60 minute role play. I prepped for a couple hours and had a plan going in, then they shortened it to 30 minutes. This made it challenging, and they definitely did not hand-feed any information. Overall - the process was long, took a lot of work, and at the end they said that they see this being a perfect fit in a couple years. The comment didn't make a ton of sense to me. I'd tell anyone to try it out to get the interview experience, but Gartner itself seems very political, and I'm left not knowing exactly what they're looking for, or the reasoning behind the decision given that (aside from the experience comment) the feedback was only positive.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Tell me about a time when you needed to adapt quickly. Tell me about a time you created trust with an executive. Tell me about a time you failed. What drives you? What is your "why"? How would you describe Gartner to somebody (elevator pitch)?

      Interview

Avoid this interview process at all costs. It felt like nothing more than a data gathering exercise rather than a genuine hiring effort. Every single round was conducted by a recruiter — I never spoke with an actual hiring manager or team member. A complete waste of time and effort. I would not recommend applying.

Interview Process is your usual 4 step interview process : with HR / Hiring Manager / Discovery call / VP call. You want to ask for feedback at the end of all interview and apply them.

      Interview

It was okay. Two interviews, phone call and zoom. Zoom was a bit weird all very feedback approached. Had to do a role play of a cold call, which I do everyday to someone who has no cold calling experience so not sure that’s the best judge
