I expected GitHub to treat its candidates, especially at the executive level, with a higher level of communication and professionalism. While the interviewers themselves were thoughtful, respectful, and clearly strong at what they do, the overall experience fell short.
Partway through the process, communication from HR stopped completely. My follow-up emails went unanswered, and I received no updates on status or next steps. This lack of closure was both surprising and disappointing given the company’s reputation.
GitHub has built an incredible brand and community, which is why this experience stands out even more. There’s a clear opportunity to improve candidate communication and ensure that all applicants, regardless of outcome, are treated with transparency and respect.

Interview
Solid process however more junior interviewers didn’t understand concepts that they should’ve at that level. Leadership is solid but they have to strengthen that bench desperately. Need more business educated folks that know OSS vs just knowing OSS alone.
