      Business Development Executive Interview

      Aug 15, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at GlobalData in Mar 2018

      Interview

Initially a face to face with a manager (who didn't show) so another manager took it. Was fairly run of the mill and rather 'basic'. It then too 2.5 weeks for my absolute penguin of a recruiter to get me a final interview which was done over the phone instead of face to face??? Very unprofessional and unusual. The offer came back and basically was paltry, the basic and package were laughable in respects to my experience and the additional 'perks' were virtually non-existent. In addition to the joke of a base salary, I was offered 19. YES NINETEEN DAYS annual leave, (I think that's illegal in the UK) and there was no healthcare package or pension package offered. My recruiter tried to get me to accept this whack package and I flatly refused it. Plus having seen the Glassdoor reviews panning many aspects of the GlobalData PLC business, I am actually glad I dodged a bullet here. Avoid GlobalData like the plague, rather you go for a business like GfK or Mintel who have a better reputation in the BI Market Data space.

      Interview

The interview process is very comfortable, they make you feel relaxed. Almost as if having a casual conversation with someone. The last stage can be slightly daunting, but they understand that cold calling may be new to you, so as long as you prepare well and take on feedback you should be fine.

Great fast process, 3 calls one with each member of the team, the call was straightforward with a small role play at the end. Really simple with the limited knowledge you would have

      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at GlobalData (Shanghai, Shanghai)

      Interview

I originally applied for the BDR (Business Development Representative) position, but by the second round of interviews with the line manager, it had inexplicably changed to SDR (Sales Development Representative). When I communicated with HR about this, they said that the two positions are essentially the same, with almost identical job responsibilities; the only difference is the KPIs. Moreover, they mentioned that the SDR role is simpler, as it only requires scheduling demo appointments, whereas the BDR role has revenue targets. However, the salary budgets for both positions are the same. I found this confusing and decided to email to ask why the BDR position was changed to SDR. Each time I had questions, the HR based in Dubai would respond very late. Moreover, without any email notification, they would suddenly call me during my evening hours in my country, which happened multiple times. Through these repeated communications, I felt that the company lacked professionalism and rigor. It seemed that the HR was only focused on completing their own KPIs by arbitrarily changing applicants' positions without prior explanation. Later, the HR admitted that the BDR position was almost filled, which was why they switched me to the SDR role. Although the two positions may have similarities, I find it hard to accept this approach.
