      Project Engineer Interview

      Jul 30, 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Audubon, PA
      Accepted offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Globus Medical (Audubon, PA)

      Interview

All of my interviews were always 1-on-1. It started with a phone interview: it probably just lasted 15 minutes and was a classic screener. My 1st in-person interview was about 2 weeks later. I first met with someone from HR; this portion probably lasted around 5-10 mins (classic questions such as ''what's your greatest accomplishment" or "why do you want to work here"). Then I met with the director of the group. This part lasted about an hour and was solely about my resume and work experience. My 2nd in-person interview was about 2 weeks later. I first met with a senior project engineer; this portion lasted about an hour and we talked about my resume and work experience. Then I met with the director of the group again. This part was more Q&A-based. I was able to ask her questions that I had about the company/culture/work. My 3rd in-person interview was one week later. I first met with a mechanical engineer. For about 40 minutes, they gave me technical questions. Then I met with another mechanical engineer. For about 40 minutes, again I got more technical questions. Lastly, I met the director again where she went into more detail about the work that the position entails. Because they were laying on the details here, the main point was to demonstrate that I was still interested in the job.

      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Globus Medical (Audubon, PA)

      Interview

The interview process consisted of an intro call with a recruiter, a phone interview with a hiring manager, then a final interview where they flew me in. For the final interview, you have to complete a design challenge where you create two part designs in CAD prior and present them during the interview. After presenting your designs, I had 1-on-1s with 5 different managers and potential coworkers. Most of these individual interviews also involved being quizzed on different instruments and engineering drawings. Overall, an intense and time consuming interview process especially considering the work you need to put into the design challenge. I got a weird vibe while there and got the impression from talking with everyone that it is a very high stress work environment with a very demanding CEO. The office itself is very bleak. Picture cubical hell with no windows, and there is no flexibility to ever work from home. Even so, I thought the interview went well and I was perfectly qualified for the role, so I was preparing myself to hate my future job, but ended up getting rejected after stringing me along for another week. Really wasted a ton of my time. Final impression was that they were looking for someone with senior level experience to underpay at a lower level.
