      Technical Support Specialist Interview

      Dec 7, 2021
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Glowforge in Aug 2021

      Interview

The interview process seemed to start out fairly standard to what I have come to expect from this industry. The first phone interview was a fairly standard 'getting to know you' style interview, with common questions such as strengths/weaknesses, etc. The second interview was a technical test via an hour-long video call. The third interview was also over video and was with the manager of the team I would have been joining. Over the course of the three interviews, I was repeatedly told that I was a great fit and that I would be a great hire for the company. After my third interview, I was told to expect a written offer by the end of the week. After two weeks had gone by with no offer, I was then told that the company was undergoing some major changes and that they would not be able to offer the position at this time. Thankfully, I had not put in my notice with my previous employer, so while a disappointment, it was understandable. I was asked if they could keep my information on file for when the position became available again. Over a month or two later, Glowforge reached out again, asking if I was still interested in the position, and even offered a higher salary than originally discussed. I confirmed that I was eager to accept the position and I was told to expect a written offer in the following days. Again, I was left waiting for the written offer for nearly two weeks, before they then again rescinded their offer, claiming that they were still in the ‘growing pains’ stage of their newest restructure. My experience seems to align with what other reviewers have said, where while the actual people you talk to seem very well-intentioned and pleasant, the whole process is disconnected from what the company needs at any given moment, and the interview process ends up stringing along candidates for months at a time.
