      Manager Interview

      Anonymous employee
      Sacramento, CA
      Accepted offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Golden 1 Credit Union (Sacramento, CA) in Feb 2015

      Interview

unorthodox, less than professional, more joking around than anything, no effort to determine applicant management style or provide high level of existing challenge info to candidate, hiring manager had his/her boss step in at the last minute - he was unprepared to sit in on an interview and felt like he was more a "filler" for time than anything else

      Interview

Recruiter reached out and scheduled phone screening just 4 days after online application. However, there was no follow-up for 2 weeks then another recruiter scheduled phone screening which was pretty strange. Turns our the first recruiter had quit! Happens and attrition is totally normal but what was not normal was the information that the recruiter gave about hybrid work arrangement. Red flag for sure! But then the second recruiter was very professional and the call went great. After more then 2 weeks they got back and scheduled interview with the hiring manager. Another red flag was the hiring manager was almost 10 mins late to the virtual interview and didn't apologize, didn't seem prepared and seemed constantly distracted. It was pretty obvious, someone was waiting outside their office and they were making eye contact & smiled which to me seemed very unprofessional and felt like they rushed. The questions asked were not structured or well-prepared at all. However, the interview went great and they invited me for in-person interview. After almost 2 weeks recruiter sends an invitation for virtual panel interview. That was strange because both the recruiter and the hiring manager had mentioned (in-person) panel interview but I guess they changed their mind. Virtual panel interview was the most awkward and had no flow. I could not wait for it end mainly because all the interviewer seemed like HR had forced them to interview and ask a set of questions (LOL) it was very robotic, not personable at all and it was hard to read them. I don't know if it's standard for them but there was a HR lady in the panel interview and she DID NOT do a good job to moderate the interview, I have no idea why she was there tbh. At one point she even had the audacity to mention that she wasn't sure if anybody had asked this question already but it's required for this role and literally read out the questions (I mean wasn't she there to listen, pay attention and moderate the panel?!). After 5 mins I knew right off the bat it was a bad fit, I couldn't imagine working at this company. The technology seemed antiquated, the people I met seemed like tenured, bored out of their minds and their process & approach seemed outdated. CEO's public presence and marketing is all gimmick. The fact that she only has 63% approval on Glassdoor is an indicator that their culture is not as good as they advertise it to be.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Golden 1 Credit Union (Sacramento, CA) in Jul 2025

      Interview

The process took over 2 months. Completed 1 screening and 3 rounds of interviews with one being with a panel. Also did a final to the final interview follow-up as well with HM. After final rounds, waited nearly 4 weeks with multiple follow-ups to be told they went with someone else. Questions were mixed of behavioral and role specific. STAR method with strong focus on connection to results, metrics, and ROI. Length of process and lack of respect of my investment and time felt misaligned with the company’s values and exceptional member service portrayed. Left a very bad taste. Advice to TA team — treat prospective candidates like members, some of us actually are, and really want a good candidate experience that reflects the company’s values, being that it is members owned. Not getting the job is not even the most disappointing, but being ghosted and a poor candidate experience gives me pause and reflection if the org really lives up to its values for employees beyond the accolades.

      Interview

Very friendly and got a call back after a week. They did not make me feel u comfortable at all. I was able to have a conversation without feeling like they were just asking questions back to back. It started off with questions and they asked other questions which felt like they were getting to know me.I would do it again.
