      Project Manager Interview

      Jul 12, 2021
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Goldman Sachs in Jun 2021

      Interview

The interview was for a lateral hire in the Change Management Team. I already had an offer from another company but was very much interested in GS. The interview was with 4 people that went for two days, one round each day. Their questions were related to the role, the first round interviewers were very rude asking me question about why I do not have an offer yet, when I graduated 5 months back. I kept my calm and answered their question. The second round went great, the interviewers were impressed. After two days, I got a call from the Hiring manager saying that they want to hire me and have made my mind about onboarding me. The HR department needs time to send an official letter, so they requested me to extend my current offer by a week. I let them know that since I am starting out my first job I can not just make my employer wait since they need an immediate hire. The hiring manager asked me to let go off the offer and assured me that I am a hire, it is just the HR department needs some more time to send an official offer. After a week, their visa team called me to take things further and understand what requirements will I need. I got a check from them, and after two days the HR sent me a generic email saying that we have decided to not offer you this time. They made me wait for an entire week by first gaining my trust, and then did not send me an offer without any apology or regret. When I asked for a reason, they denied me any feedback. Luckily, I did not let go of my existing offer, but it was a horrible experience with GS. Especially, a firm so reputed has broken my trust and disappointed me majorly.

      Interview

Interviewd by senior people who where all very nice and very professional. Not too difficult, but several (and too many) rounds. Only downside was the lack of communication after 5 interviews. Overall a nice experience.

      Interview

Not too difficult from questions standpoint. Interviewer was doing work on the side while taking the call which felt a bit off. Fit issues from both sides in the end which led to no further process after round 1. Interview with a VP in the asset management division
