      I interviewed at Google

      Interview

Reached out to by recruiter, and was certainly receptive to learning more about Google. Initial conversations went really well and I was invited onsite to interview. I loved that Google took care of everything imaginable when it came to expenses, and the coordinators were so nice. When I came onsite I was surprised that the interviews were so robotic, thinking about Google I would expect very personable, happy and genuine people, but instead the team just had a list of questions they asked and never really deviated from that list, they just asked a bunch of questions and typed away on the computer. One of the interviewers even apologized because of how inhuman the interview was, but they have to follow this style of interviewing. Many of the questions were hypothetical and weren't hard, but I also felt like they weren't relevant to the role. Not much time was spent reviewing my background or getting to know me, and they just focused on the hypothetical questions. I did well on the questions and was told I would be moved to HC. However after leaving I just didn't feel excited about Google, I had this perception of how great the company was, and I'm sure it is but meeting with the folks during the interview I just didn't feel happy about the prospect about joining Google. At no point did I feel a personal connection with any of the interviewers, and for any company you join you want to like the people/ team. Additionally my recruiter was very nice, but he was horrible at keeping me updated, weeks went by waiting for feedback before HC and not a word from him. Usually recruiters will keep you in the loop but none of that here, overall not a great experience and completely changed my perception of Google
