I applied on the website and got response from the recruiter. First round was the typical recruiter chat about background, role, and the interview process. Second round with hiring manager, again background, projects you worked on, but this round included technical questions and a coding component as well. Third round had 3 sections: system design, coding, critical thinking. All sections were reasonable and doable in the allowed time, and interviewers were well prepared and communicated requirements well.

Met with hiring manager. Confirmed I was a backend engineer with no recent full stack or cloud experience. Talked about my last 7 years experience at two top tier employers. Started coding challenge. Given a generic platform set up for Java. Asked a design question about the design of a full stack application on the cloud. After several minutes of describing REST interfaces and distributed databases in multiple regions was told that I was not giving the data layer design that was wanted and the interview abruptly ended. The whole interview was unprofessional and discouraging. Neither my resume, the conversation with the recruiter, nor the interview had me claim frontend web server experience in the cloud and yet the entire technical portion was focused on this. Gopuff is a young company with young talent. Recommend steering away from them until they mature their interview process.
