I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Grid Dynamics (San Rafael, CA) in Jun 2019
Interview
I had a screening call with a recruiter and then an onsite interview with the hiring manager. The interview was one of the strangest I have ever encountered. The hiring manager barely said hello to me and then left me for an hour to complete an "assessment" that he had created himself in a google doc. The assessment consisted of filling in the blanks on a positioning statement, as well as several riddles and other tasks meant to "measure a candidates intelligence". During the course of the hour following the competition of this "assessment" the hiring manger argued with me about my answers and the way I had approached the problems. Personally, I don't feel that this is 1. an effective way to recruit someone, and 2. is an effective way to manage. Immediately following the interview I called the recruiter and told her I would like to withdraw my candidacy as I did not feel that there was a fit between myself and that workplace.
It is smooth, conversational and comfortable facilitated by the interviewers in the room. It is kept strictly professional but not intimidating. keeping time is key so you must arrive earlier and have enough time to settle in and prepare.
