      Small Business Sales Representative Interview

      Jun 7, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Denver, CO
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Gusto (Denver, CO)

      Interview

First interview was a quick conversation over the phone to get to know me then they asked me to provide a writing sample for them which was not too difficult but was time consuming. The final interview consists of three interviews with different people throughout the company. Everyone is extremely friendly but that can also mislead you to believe you are shoe in.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Gusto (Denver, CO)

      Interview

I believe their process should be refined in an attempt to not provide false expectations. On multiple occasions, I was made to believe I was more or less a shoe in. Both personally, and through their calls to my references, I was given too strong of indications that I was going to get the job. I don't believe there was any ill intent, and I still have a good overall opinion of Gusto. I just wanted to provide fair warning to future applicants that you may receive more positive affirmation than is typically appropriate throughout the interview process.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Standard interview questions such as "What is your biggest failure, and what do you wish you'd done differently", "How do you handle conflict", and "Why Sales? Why Gusto". Also, be well read on their value props and be ready to role play a sale. It's easily the most difficult part of the interview if you're not used to it. Your recruiter will be very helpful in preparing you for the in person interview.
