      Support Interview

      Oct 21, 2014
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

      I interviewed at Gusto

      Interview

Had a quick call after sending over my resume and was sent a fairly long test regarding answering Payroll questions and tax laws. Which I have no experience with so not sure why they are interviewing people that have never worked in that type of industry. I even had a friend that is a Director of HR look at it and she told me the questions are very vague and she's not exactly sure how she would answer either. Some of these you can find on the internet on the IRS site, but others are very difficult. I felt like I wasted 2 days working on this test.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Gusto (San Francisco, CA)

      Interview

Had a phone interview. Straight forward questions. Short and to the point. They seemed very busy over there. Then had an interview in person. They seemed pretty unorganized. One of the interviewers talked more about himself than asking about me. He was also seemed unprepared and the interview went in all different directions.

      Interview

Rigorous process with 3 days onsite and 9 total interviews. Having gone through similar processes at other tech companies, I can very much appreciate making sure each and every hire is a right experience and cultural fit. Recruiter was very transparent and forthright with steps/stage in the process.

      Interview

The interview process started with two phone interviews followed by a worksheet testing your problem solving abilities. The onsite interview began with a catered lunch and conversation with current team members. This was followed by a few one-on-one interviews lasting a total of 3.5 hours. They really wanted to get a sense of who you are and your personality. I believe being genuine and authentic landed me the job!
