The interview process at ZenPayroll was long, but I had a ton of fun along the way.
The first step was a phone conversation with a member of the PM team. We talked about my career, what I'm looking for in my next role, the company, and of course the opening. It seemed like a great fit from both sides, and I was asked to do a take-home assignment.
The take-home took quite a while but gave me a chance to play around with the product and get a feel for the space. I had previously been in a management role and loved getting my hands dirty again.
After submitting the assignment, I did a video conference with another member of the PM team to discuss the assignment, then came onsite a total of three times to meet with various members of the team. I met people from across the company, including product, engineering, marketing, business development, and the executive team, all of whom asked me unique and interesting questions. I was incredibly impressed by the individuals, the quality of the interviews, and the sense of company culture I felt by talking to so many people.
Overall, I'd say that the interview process at ZenPayroll is longer than others I've been through, but I found it valuable as a candidate to be able to get such a thorough understanding of the company and the team.
