Interview
The process was easy but very time consuming. Based on all the reviews, what the applicants are saying are true. I feel that you would have to be unemployed to do all the assignments they ask of you. First you need to answer 5 video questions, then they ask you to do a take home assignment. One of the assignments asks you to complete a w-2 form in which only an accountant would know how. I believe that with some training, anyone could ace this question. This interview should base solely on your experience with customer support, not based on your knowledge on W-2 as that can come later. I am interviewing for customer support, not accounting. I've given interviews and trainings and I believe there are better approaches out there. At least they were able to get back to me and didn't leave me hanging.

the interview process was quick - i was contacted by HR to schedule a phone call - i was contacted a few days later by one of the managers in the department - questions were easy and general - contacted by HR to complete an at-home assignment, submitted assignment and i was then invited to the office for in-person interviews with four team members - spoke to each for about 20 minutes and one was solely on the company culture - found out a few days later that i received the job.
The first thing I want to say is this: don't ever let everyone else's opinion shake you away from something. I've read a lot of negative reviews about this process and I have not felt negative about it yet, in fact it's been very timely. They keep reminding you of their "transparency" and that they believe in not wasting anyone's time.
I applied through the website and was contacted the day after. I had a date and a time for a 30 minute phone chat before noon.
The 30 minute chat was actually more like 45, the gentleman I was talking to was very friendly. By the end of the interview I felt really good and he said he would "talk to his team" and either he would "send me an assignment" or "let me know otherwise". Three hours later I was sent the assignment.
The assignment was rigorous and I spent a great deal of time on the first question, but it was okay because the last two questions were easy to find online and through the website. I turned my assignment in, and the next morning I received an email from the same recruiter asking if I could go into the office for a 3 hour interview the next week, again stating if that at any point they felt as though the position wasn't a good fit for me it would be cut short.
This interview was not intimidating and I enjoyed meeting the three gentleman. Very standard interview questions and and it's clear what kind of candidate they are looking to hire.
No offer yet, but I hope to hear back from the company. All in all, I've not felt the process to be impersonal at all.

Interview
Honestly, it was a good experience even though I did not get the job. After a phone interview they gave me an assignment which did not quite meet their standards. I do believe everything on the assignment could have easily been taught to me even though it did not come as naturally at first (I am a bad test taker!) It really caught me off guard. I wrote them asking what went wrong and the man I had been in contact with sent me an awesome email explaining the pros and cons throughout my process. I really appreciated this because most companies drop you like third period french once they have decided not to hire you. So, thank you ZenPayroll for the productive and constructive feedback. I am ready and willing to learn if you ever reached back out to me. I truly believe in your mission.
