Applied online and was contacted for the straight-forward grammar assignment. Within a few says we'd set up a brief phone call. We mostly talked about my past experiences and they explained in more detail about the position itself. It was odd that they asked me at that stage what I wanted for a salary. I then got the written assessment assignment, which takes 3.5 hours. The work was intellectually challenging, which I liked. Within a week after completing that assignment, I got an automated message inviting me to do a background check, which they had let me know would be the next step. I needed 3 references for that, and those references also received automated messages from the background company, not explaining that the request was coming from Hudson, or me/the position. Then I got another unenthusiastic email with my offer letter, no negotiation. I made a phone call to the Chicago office to learn more about the company culture, and while the HR person was happy to set up a phone call, there was no enthusiasm just talk about the bland office culture.

Interview
Walked in the main door of the office suite and did not know where to go; there was nobody in the reception area. All I saw was a box on the desk and a massage chair in the corner (???). I asked a guy who was walking out of the suite if he could direct me to the HR representative I had spoken with, and he pointed me to a couple people standing in the kitchen area. I asked the people standing there if one of them was the HR rep, and fortunately, it was the rep.
Went to a conference room where there was one other individual also interviewing and doing the writing sample. The training manager came into the room and told us about the job. In front of each interviewee, there was a folder that contained several documents pertaining to a person from oversees who was seeking a U.S. Visa. The writing sample task was to ghost write a letter from one of the person's recommenders, for review and consideration by immigration authorities. Took about three hours. Was told that writers are expected to put out about four to six letters every two business days.
After completing the writing sample, the HR rep interviewed me. The representative was helpful and knowledgeable, and the interview went well.
I believe I did not receive an offer because I was overqualified.
