I’ll begin by saying I have worked for the Haircuttery for 8 years prior. I have been a stylist for over 30 years. I’ve had my own salon as wellNeedless to say I obviously know what I’m doing. Haircuttery calls me for an interview with now a new manager who in the phone didn’t have a positive reinforcement manner. It was apparent from the start that she may already have had someone else in mind. This is the same exact shop I previously worked for years ago. Whenever I was hired I knew right away that I was hired. This time I was told that the regional and district would get in touch. The regional sent out an email in an hour and half’s time stating I my qualifications were impressive and they chose another candidate. That’s fine, but why bother with the interview and paying $25 for a mannequin just to tell me this in an email. It was apparent that perhaps with my experience and this being a cut throat occupation perhaps with my experience I was intimidating or perhaps maybe she was worried I’d definitely would acquire a huge clientele because the area in VA Beach where I applied is where I worked before and everyone knew me.

It was nice. I met with the manager. she asked me some questions and then they had me do a haircut on a model and gave me plenty of time. She kind of observed but not right over my shoulder. and then she asked about my availability. then I started two weeks later.

The interviewer asked me about my experience with different hair types and techniques, and I appreciated how they focused on both my technical skills and my ability to interact with clients.

Virtual interviews are the best! Dressed professionally from the waist up. Got a recap on the companies mission, vision, and values. Did a verbal assessment for the interviewer to gain an understanding of my knowledge of the industry and my knowledge of the position. It was a very warming interview as the interviewer was professionally down to earth.
