I was approached by an outside recruiter and we discussed the position and some details around it, the steps - first a Hacker Rank test and then 2 meetings. At which point, this person asked me to provide a resume which is a standard procedure. It seemed the recruiter was working together with PayPal. After I sent the resume, the recruiter asked me to follow a link to provide some details and then I'll receive the Hacker Rank link. The link provided led me to the job description where I applied for the position myself. This looked quite strange and I was wondering what the role of the recruiter had been in this case if I had to apply for the position myself. I did so and didn't receive a link for the first step of the interview. Eventually, after a week+ of going back and fourth with the recruiter, I was sent a link to the test.
The test consisted of three questions, one logical, one mathematical and one technical (simple SQL).
Supposedly the first one has the most weight (I've heard) and if you don't pass the test, you are not moving forward regardless of how many years of experience or relevant experience one might have. Quite shortsighted in my opinion but obviously they think differently.
I still haven't received a response from anyone, neither the recruiter, nor Paypal after 2+ weeks.
