      Flight Attendant Interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Hawaiian Airlines (Honolulu, HI)

      Interview

I submitted an application on 9/9/19 and received a reply on 9/14 asking to select an interview time for the first round. It was all held on n 9/28 with I believe 5 time slots to choose from, all 90 minute increments. All interviews for all 3 phases were to be held at the Hawaiian Airlines HQ which is located near the airport, behind the shopping center which has the Starbucks. Very easy to find and they provide easy instructions to find their exact location in the building. I arrived 15-20 minutes early and walked into the lobby where I was provided a name tag. The name tags had either a number or letter to denote the group you would be placed in later. There were a handful of other applicants waiting. They then ushered us inside to another room where we conducted a reach test and reconfirmed info from our application. We then were broken up into our groups at tables in a cafeteria type room. An FA was there to talk and answer questions as we waited for everyone to finish their reach test. Each group was then taken to an interview room and we were lined up alphabetically by first name and then entered & sat accordingly. I had 10 applicants in my group. We first had to go around and state our first and last name. After that we were each asked down the line to state in 1 minute a recent demonstration of hookipa in our current jobs. Then the 2nd question in reverse order was again to answer in 1 minute feedback (an opportunity) that we have received in our jobs. Last question was back in alphabetical order to answer in 1 minute a stressful situation we had to handle. At the end we were asked to read a PA announcement and that was the end of the interview. I heard back at 6:15pm that I was being invited for the 2nd round of interviews the next day and to select a time slot. This time there were 4 times (again 90min) to select from. I showed up and saw 3 others from my group there. Similar check in process and this time we had 20 in our groups and again sat in alphabetical order. We were taken to a larger group where we sat in a semi-circle with 1 employee being the MC of the interview if you will with a team of I think it was 6 HR employees with clipboards critiquing us. Again we went around to introduce ourselves. Then we were given a guest service scenario which we couldn’t read until it was our turn and then we were provided 2 minutes to answer. Then we broke into teams of 4 to act as a cabin crew and provided an emergency scenario and as a team how would we handle it. We had 3 minutes to provide what steps we would take. Then someone on the team needed to present (I volunteered). We were then thrown a curveball and given another 3 minutes to handle the situation and again present (choose a different person to present). At the end the other 2 applicants who didn’t present and to provide feedback to everyone on how they thought the team handled the situation or if they would have done something different. We then regrouped back in our semicircle and they talked next steps of the process. They also asked that we leave quickly for the next group to arrive and not try and shake everyone’s hand and thank them (of course some tried and were turned away). Next step was to hear from them if we made it or not by end of day for the final interview round which is to be conducted 9/30-10/3 which would be 30 min with just the applicant and 2 interviewers. Unfortunately at 4:30 I received an email that I was not selected.

      Interview

the whole process was a 3-step process. The first was a group Zoom interview, with a few questions and timed answer (now with Alaska Air merge, it is a recorded process). Next was an in-person group interview, you measure height and reach, break off in groups, and speak in front of a panel. Finally, individual interview, but I did not get that far.
