Interview
I applied to a Associate Software Engineer Developer role via their Career Website. There are 3 interviews, I only did the first 2.
First interview is from a Recruiter. Standard behavioral interview with the recruiter talking about the company, and answering any questions you have. The recruiter just wants to know if you can communicate your skills effectively. The recruiter I talked to was very enioyable talk to, this was a good experience.
Second interview is the technical coding interview. This is where they ask you some simple coding questions to solve via code. Overall, this interview is the reason why I gave the experience a negative review. Why? Because they seem to be doing it because that is "what other big companies are doing," but they do not know what they are trying to achieve from it. They gave me very simple no brainer problems, which just left a very awkward silence as I wrote the code. Normally with technical interviews they would ask you slightly complex problems and give you very straight forward answers to help guide you as well as see how well you can communicate with others. This was not the case. The problems were very easy, and if I tried to bring up questions regarding the problem (some edge case questiond) they just said along the lines of "however you want to handle it." This blew my mind, it really does seem like they are just doing these type of interviews because every other company is, rather than seeing if not only this person can code but also communicate their questions and problems effectively.
The third and final interview would be with all the managers for a final decision. I did not make it to this round, but given my experience with the 2nd round, I'd probably have turn it down.
