Interview process was very straight forward. A recruiter calls you first to vet you. Then you have an interview with two different managers back to back. The first of these is a role play to sell them AirBnB. The second is a behavioral interview. Finally, the last round is a 15 minute meeting with a senior manager.

I was initially very excited about this opportunity. The compensation was below industry standard, but given the mission, I was willing to be flexible. The final interview started off well, with one interviewer who was warm and easy to talk to. However, a second interviewer sitting in was noticeably rude and dismissive for much of the conversation. Toward the end, when I tried to get clarity on a few points, the tone became sarcastic and dismissive rather than collaborative. It felt less like a conversation and more like being tested or caught out, which was enough that I withdrew from the process shortly after. It also seems like this company overextends its employees, expecting people to take on far more than is reasonable, especially given the below market pay. The unfortunate truth is that candidates are evaluating a company just as much as the company is evaluating them. This experience made clear that isn’t fully understood internally, and how someone is treated in an interview says a lot about how they’d be treated as an employee.
