I completed a technical phone screen with HealthSherpa. The interviewer did not introduce themself, was completely silent throughout the call, then cut the interview off with no time for questions. It was pretty clear I had failed! I did my best to talk through my thought process and share my knowledge of React for a 45 minute coding question. At the end I asked the interviewer if they had any questions and they simply said "Well, does it work?". I was caught off guard by the binary pass fail of needing it to compile. I had a really negative experience due to that - I felt that I had three years experience working with professionally with React and I could have done a much better job showing my skills if I had known to really prioritize making sure everything compiled at every step, and if I had a bit better knowledge of how to render react components in coder pad. After the interview they let me know they were still working out some kinks in the process and offered me to do the exercise as a take home, which I declined.
