The "department" seems like a chaotic mess. There's no scope for the team, individuals are just working on whatever they feel like at the moment and there was not even a defined role or objectives for the person they were looking to hire. The actual interview had nothing to do with what was written in the job posting and was mostly about the interviewer's field of interest. For their sake I hope they hire a director to address all of the issues. I certainly wouldn't be looking to apply here again.

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Helion Energy
Interview
Standard interview process, 3 rounds. Recruiter screen, virtual HM interview (in this case, interview with an engineer on the team), and onsite interview with a 25 minute presentation. About a month from initial interview to decision email. The interviewers were all very respectful, and I enjoyed discussing the role and the company with them. The CEO likes to be involved in as many of the engineering interviews as possible.
I received an email rejection with the feedback that I did not have the experience they would like for this role, and in that case, it feels like I should not have been invited for an onsite interview. It was not actionable advice, and frankly felt like a waste of my time. They paid for travel and accommodations, which felt like an even bigger waste.
