      The first stage is a video call with recruiter. Then they want you to take "a test". And not just some test, but a huge task that would cost thousands of $$$ if they paid you for your work. But they don't. Moreover, the result of your efforts will not be properly reviewed at all. After you waste dozens of hours you'd expect a thorough attempt at reviewing the result, questions, answers, some discussion, all that. Well, DON'T. Instead a short message by some junior-ish person fresh out of college with some lead title will appear overnight. Half of the message will be thanks-for-your-time nonsense. The other part will contain bold and plain wrong statements that'd reveal how fresh your reviewer is (turned out it's called "HelloFresh" for a reason). Don't bother replying, asking the person to refer to the docs, etc. They don't respect you or your time and will ignore your messages (you'd have a better chance to get a reply from /dev/zero).

      What do you know about our company? Why did you choose this position? Why do you want to move to Germany? Tell me about yourself. You do understand our company is a family? Have you experience of X (API, microservices, AWS, Docker, etc.)?

      They'll create a private repo with a task (just a README, a few dockerfiles, docker-compose.yml, and some .php files inside), share it with you and expect you'd implement it (in PHP, Python, or Go) in no more than 7 days and then open a single Pull Request on Github with all the changes to submit the result. The task is: 1. Implement Recipes API with the specified endpoints (6 in total) for List, Create, Get, Update, Delete, Rate. 1.1 Implement authentication for the Create, Update, and Delete (according to the task, the method is up to you, but at the end you'll learn that not really). 1.2 Implement search functionality. 1.3 Optional requirements (at the end they may be not that optional): implement pagination, content negotiation, add other types of testing (though, nobody cares), have good git history (even though, nobody would read it). 2. Do not use any frameworks or microframeworks. Code generation of any kind is forbidden. 3. Use Postgres, MongoDB, or Redis for data persistence. 4. Overengineer your solution so they can see what you can do (that's just a beautiful lie they copy pasted from somewhere). 5. Make sure your project works with the specified docker-compose or they will ignore your result right away.

      I had a first HR screening interview, and unfortunately, it was a highly disappointing experience. From the very beginning, the HR representative mentioned he wouldn’t be turning on the camera, which immediately affected our communication. Following his suggestion, I also turned mine off. This was my first experience with an HR interview where both parties had their cameras off, and it made it incredibly difficult to focus on the conversation. As a result, the interview did not go well. The HR representative asked a series of repetitive and irrelevant behavioral questions, almost like a robot reading from a script, which didn't feel tailored to the conversation at all. The notes during the interview were taken by an AI bot, further distancing any human connection in the process. To add to that, he also said that the company expects employees to work from the office three days a week, which didn’t align with my expectations, so I wasn’t too disappointed when the interview outcome was negative. This has been my only HR interview rejection.
