Higher Ground Education User Experience Designer interview questions

I received a rejection email and I thought it was great that they were providing improvements for my application process, however the only thing they noted was "Min 1 year of experience". I was shocked. I basically checked off in everything other than that 1 year of professional experience in the field (while I worked as a graphic designer and marketer for 3 years). If they truly believe in education then how will they be able to have new graduates come into the field? Professional experience should be the last reason why there is no offer.
