Application
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Homebase (Toronto, ON) in Jan 2025
Interview
A recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn and encouraged me to apply for a role. We had a very odd screening interview over Zoom — the recruiter didn’t turn on their camera, and our entire conversation was transcribed by an AI plugin, supposedly for their records.
The recruiter seemed unprepared and didn’t have any real questions. It felt like the only goal was to generate a transcription for the tool, rather than to actually engage with me. They didn’t provide any details about the company or the role.
I was rejected shortly after the call, which honestly came as a relief. It was one of the most unprofessional interview experiences I’ve ever had.
I’m genuinely starting to wonder if this was even a legitimate hiring process. If you're considering applying to this company, proceed with caution — or better yet, don’t bother.

Waste of time for experienced engineers. Interviewers don't do their homework asking basic questions like "do you know Swift".
