      Account Executive Interview

      Apr 8, 2017
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Tempe, AZ
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Houzz (Tempe, AZ) in Mar 2017

      Interview

I had a total of 3 interviews. The first was a phone interview with a woman. The phone interview went really well and then a couple of days later I was contacted my the same recruiter. She scheduled a Skype interview with some guy. After that interview I was contacted again for final interview this one was in person. I was looking to relocate to Arizona which they New and I drove 1,000 miles round trip. I did a role play which I did very well on. Then I interviewed with the head of recruiting and hiring she was very nice and we had a great conversation. I was told that the recruiting team had to make a decision together. I did a email follow up and was told I was a top priority and would have further steps soon. Four days later I finally emailed and called and could not get a hold of the main recruiter, so I had to call the Jr recruiter and email her. I got an email back from her telling me sorry it was a hard decision but they were not moving forward. When I went to the office one thing I noticed that there were about 5 men out of 30-40 women. I would have to agree with the interviews I read prior that unless your a woman and want to make the lower salary that's the only way you are going to get hired. I was disappointed at first that I did not get the job, but now I can see the light (better company). I think it was very unprofessional that they did not offer anything to reimburse me since I drove there for the final interview, I wouldn't of accepted any money or anything but just the offer shows the kind of company you could work for. If your a male great at sales steer clear of this company. I am no longer a believer in what they are selling.

      Interview

Great company to work for. They have a stringent hiring process. You will have multiple interviews followed by a presentation at the end. All in all they want to see if you understand their platform and user mentality. Big props if you show your personality or if you have a positive attitude it will go a long way. It was definitely gruelling but totally fair as the job itself is quit full on.

Why Houzz? Why sales? You don't seem like a salesperson.. (I don't). Very blunt but direct.

      Interview

Houzz places a large emphasis on role playing in the interview process, both for external and internal roles. It's daunting in the moment but is actually good practice and gives interviewers a good sense of how you think on your feet
