I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at HubSpot (Singapore) in Jul 2021
Interview
Application:
I applied online through a referral link.
Before applying to HS, I would recommend speaking with people who currently work at HS in the team that you are interested in. These people are very helpful in guiding you and setting the right expectations from the start. Everyone I spoke to was very prompt and helpful.
HR Interview:
Very basic HR interview where the HR manager will ask you about your current role, why are you looking out, your interest in the role at HS, salary expectations, etc. Very casual. HR will also share details about the role and the interview process.
Interview with Hiring Manager:
The hiring manager made me feel very comfortable and helped me overcome the interview jitters. He shared about the role and expectations; also what qualities they are looking for in someone they want to hire. He asked the following questions:
1. How are you connected to the person who referred you?
2. Why do you want to change your job now?
3. What kind of client interactions do you have in your current role?
4. What does onboarding look like in your current company?
5. How do you align with other team mates at your company?
Most of these questions were based on my answers to the previous questions, so ensure that you know what you are saying.
Role Play Assignment:
This is a big task and will need effort and understanding. Make sure you access HS's huge online educational material to understand their processes, especially Inbound methodology.
For this assignment you'll need to prepare and present an onboarding plan for a specific type of company. All required information and reading links will be shared by the HR.
During the role-play, be pleasant and confident, ask a lot of questions and then walk through your plan. Ask for feedback when role play ends.
Final Interviews:
These are four, 30-minute, back-to-back interviews with different managers within the team (including your hiring manager). I requested the HR to split these into two 1 hr segments vs 2 hrs straight on a work day. For these interviews, read up the HS articles about STAR methodology and other related articles. Answer directly without beating around the bush.
In general, I can't insist more on using HS's educational material to navigate through the process.

Question 1
1. Have you built something from scratch in your company? Share more.
2. How do you work with other teams?
3. Share more about when you had to work with someone who had a different style of working.
4. How do you deliver bad news?
5. Have you ever brought about a change in process at your company?
6. How do you handle feedback?
I went through a multi-step interview process that included several initial calls with the recruiter to discuss the role and assess fit, followed by a more in-depth conversation with the hiring manager and a potential future colleague. After that, I participated in a final round consisting of four back-to-back interviews with different managers from various departments, each focusing on specific aspects of the role and how I would contribute to the team.
