Interview
Interviewer provided some links to prepare for the phone interviewer which was great. Coming into the interview and after doing research, I am well aware of the technical aspects of the job. However job requirements and the links do not emphasise anything about requiring technical knowledge but what is important is the mindset of helping customers and positive approach to customer support and the mental strength to be adaptable in dynamic environment based on customers' demands.
But during interview, interviewer keep on emphasising that this is a technically demanding job and I may find it challenging and hard to cope. It is portrayed that the deal breaker for the job is the lack of technical skills.
While I do appreciate the concern, perhaps you can include the technical knowledge as part of the pre-requisite of the job. Plus, include the technical side of the job instead of ONLY share the customer service part of the job. Even Mr. Dharmesh's keynote in Inbound18 was very customer-service focused and not how knowledgeable you are in the technical aspects.
It was unfair for people who are judged based on technical knowledge availability when it is not even asked for in the first place. If you want the candidate to have technical knowledge, then say that you need it in the job description. Please practice transparency like the Culture Code said.
Thank you.
The hiring process consists of an initial HR interview to assess cultural fit, followed by a technical interview to evaluate skills, and concludes with three separate one-on-one interviews with different managers expecting STAR responses.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about a time you had conflict with a coworker or colleague, and how did you overcome it?
It is a 5 step interview process, with the 1st one being a phone screening, then a video call/interactive assignment, and then finally three 30 minute back to back interviews for the 3rd and final round.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot in Apr 2026
Interview
Three rounds:
-Screening with recruiter
-Technical (live troubleshooting with a manager)
-Behavioral (3-30 minute interviews with managers)
The recruiter offers prep sessions before the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Take advantage of them as they’ll explicitly walk you through how to prepare.
