      Interview

Lengthy interview process, but fair and well thoughtout. They make sure you are aware of what the position entails and that you are the appropriate fit. There is an assesment portion.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Explain a time that you made a mistake at work, and how did you handle it.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at HubSpot (Cambridge, MA) in Aug 2021

      Interview

After an initial interview with a HubSpot recruiter I was pumped for my next interview. My initial recruiter asked me what my salary requirement was, and when I responded "70k", she said that this was a starting salary for only senior-level positions, and she would let the next hiring manager know that my interview would change to involve more technical questions for a senior-level role. After reviewing the qualifications for a senior-level role , I knew I definitely did not have the skillset down just yet, as I am currently learning CSS, HTML, and JS. I let the next hiring manager know at the beginning of the interview that I really wanted to start an entry-level position and grow into the role. When I got my feedback back from the interview, it was described as a "little unusual to say". This feedback is certainly confusing because I really just wanted to interview for the position I applied for originally, not a senior-level role. My only inkling is that the recruiter never told the hiring manager that I was interviewing for a senior-level role, as she was going on vacation the week of my interview. I can imagine it would catch any hiring manager off guard to mention salary right off the bat, but my intention was to clarify which role I was interviewing for. Unfortunately, I really do feel this put me at a disadvantage in the process, so overall it wasn't a great experience. .

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Q: Explain your current involvement with onboarding at your current job? What is the process like? Q: Describe a situation in which employees gave you feedback? How did you handle it? Q: What does diversity and inclusion mean to you?

      Interview

I really enjoyed my interviews for this role, every single one was 2 ways, always informative and flexible yet well structured. The process was divided into 3 stages: 30 min Screening call with the Recruiter 30 min Zoom video call with the hiring manager 4 - 30 min back to back zoom video call with 4 managers Every single interviewer went the extra mile to make me feel comfortable, they made sure we had time for me to ask them questions and they gave me a great insight into the company culture, the team, and the role expectations. Big kudos to my recruiter Liz, she always kept me well informed, gave me great suggestions and kept the communication flowing on time, and was very accommodating to fit the interviews with my limited schedule, plus her good vibes and cheerfulness made the whole process super enjoyable. My advice is to work hard, do Academy courses, read the HubSpot blog, Culture code, practice the STAR methodology and if you want to know more about the company, the role or the team don't be afraid to ask questions, interviews are 2 ways and I think is super important to make sure your expectations are reached as well. I look forward to starting working at HubSpot.
