      Instructional Designer Interview

      Westlake, OH
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Hyland (Westlake, OH) in Jan 2016

      Interview

I reviewed the company website with potential job openings and notice a few that were tailored to my educational background and experience. I filled in and submitted my resume directly through the company website and was notified a three days later that Hyland wanted to move forward with the recruiting process. The next step was a phone interview with a recruiter. The interview last about 20-30 minutes with general "get to know you" questions. The recruiter let me know that I would hear back from the company regardless of being offered the next step of the process or not. About two weeks later I was notified via email that they were moving forward with another candidate.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Hyland (Westlake, OH) in Apr 2016

      Interview

I applied online and was contacted for a phone and Skype interview. The interview went well and I was flown on-site to conduct a face to face interview with the team. I was given a practical application activity / presentation to complete for the on-site interview which was pretty basic and easy enough to prepare for if you comfortable with your skills. I met with two individuals and answered several questions about my experience and how I would handle certain situations. I then delivered my presentation and answered questions regarding the method I chose based on the scenario. Following this I met with a few other people that were on the team for a very short amount of time. I sent a thank you letter after the interview and received no response. I then received an email two days later that I was not a fit for the position. I requested feedback from the recruiter and received no response again. I felt that the entire process was very rushed and compared to other interviews I have completed, they did not seem to ask me a lot of questions related to my skills. Overall, I found it off-putting that I received no response after my interview for the thank you letter or the request for feedback, especially since I was flown in from out of state.
