While my experience with the phone screening was great, and I appreciated the initial enthusiasm, my interview with the hiring manager/director for this region was disappointing. The manager did not appear excited to be interviewing me, despite my extensive work experience in this space which was disheartening and unprofessional. Additionally, my experience has led me to believe that Ilia Beauty does not genuinely value diversity, particularly the inclusion of Black women. While the company's social media pages showcase diversity for optics, it does not seem to translate into actual hiring practices. During my interview process, I couldn't help but notice a lack of genuine interest in hiring diverse candidates, as evidenced by the overwhelming presence of white women in these roles. It is disheartening to witness such a discrepancy between the company's public image and its internal practices. True diversity and inclusion should go beyond mere representation on social media and be reflected in the hiring and promotion processes within the company.
