I had an interview and was a little surprised that I was asked what I was looking for and then told my long term path would not ever happen. I was basically told the job description didn't say any of those things and why was I applying if I wanted more. I was also told that it would be reported back to the hiring manager that I thought it wouldn't be a good fit because I wanted more from the position...I was so stunned that the conversation went that direction that I just agreed as I knew this interview was not going anywhere at that point. I can read - I knew what the position was. My suggestion - don't ask what people are looking for if you don't want to hear a driven candidate's long term goals. In my experience, a person with goals is a very good thing.
