I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Illumina (La Jolla, CA) in May 2010
Interview
I made it to phone screening only. Phone screening interview did not line up w/ the posted job description, or w/ my resume and cover letter. Left me asking, "why did they call me?" And, I got the impression that the recruiter was frustrated too, and wondering why I had applied. Job description focused on training development skills, knowledge, and years of experience (which is what I was expecting to discuss), but interview was strongly, strongly focused on people management experience only, which I have to a lesser degree (as indicated in my resume and cover letter). Recruiter was pleasant, but did not have a professional response to questions about company culture. She was only able to tell me that it was "very, very fast-paced---but fun" a few times.
