      Account Executive Interview

      Nov 6, 2014

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at InsightSquared in Oct 2014

      Interview

The process was very long and ultimately disappointing for me. This company is definitely in 'growth' mode, and so they are particular about who they hire, which is understandable. I did three interviews: First was a phone interview: getting to know each other, ie: can I speak clearly and intelligently on the phone etc. Next was an in-person interview which consisted of a tour of the building and an interview with a sales team leader, and then the manager in charge of lead generation teams. They decided I wasn't lead generation material and sent me to the 'closing' side of the house to interview. That next interview was with three people, a current 'closer', the manager of account executives, and then the new VP of Sales. They asked me relevant and intelligent questions about the sales process, they let me ask plenty of questions, and asked me what I knew about the sales process. They're looking for hunters who know the sales process is just that, a process. I was told that the next step in the process was a 'round-table' of sorts with everyone I'd met at the company having a recommendation, but I got the impression that the VP of sales had the final say. This company offers a brilliant and easy to use/understand layer of GUI data mined from salesforce, and even though salesforce just unveiled 'Wave' that does similar things, it's still not equivalent to what InsightSquared offers, and Salesforce.com has invested in InsightSquared. This is a growing and successful company with a promising future. Everyone I met at this company, (interviewers and random employees while waiting in-between interviews etc) were kind, happy, and excited to be at work, highly recommend.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Nothing terribly difficult for anyone with sales experience/knowledge: They showed me a graphic of the sales process from a sample company and asked me what it was, and then followed up with: 'do you see any issues with the sales pipeline at this company'.
