Interview process is incredibly long and drawn out, like I’m talking almost a month only to be told no. There wasn’t an interview I attended where the interviewer wasn’t running late, and unfortunately on the one that really counted, final round, an interviewer was almost 10 minutes late! IF you get to the 3rd stage be prepared to give a presentation with little to no guidance that will be sold as a “role-play” with a mock SDR team. What I was told to expect for this stage, was not reality. It turned into a grilling session rather than an interactive role play SDR training. I don’t have anything negative to say about the people I interviewed with, but seriously just save everyone’s time make the presentation the first round. It’s a gut punch to be given the green light by 3 people only to be eliminated because of incredibly vague guidelines for a presentation. Your relevant experience will not help you and this won’t be taken into account at the presentation stage. I’ve been selling into enterprise for over 4 years and was told my presentation was for the mid market. Another thing that felt disingenuous was that I discovered a 10% layoff happened at Instawork before my last interview and I was not informed of this during the process by anyone. My original coordinator no ping worked there and I started to receive communications from a completely different person. Had I known, I would have saved the time I used to prepare for their presentation and voluntarily withdrew my application as I’m not going to pursue working at a company that has made such fresh layoffs, especially so close to their last funding round! Red flag! In the end, I did not receive the offer and I understand Instawork retains 100% discretion in this decision, but I felt like I was unfortunately setup to fail. So, word of caution for anyone applying, do your due diligence. Is this really the organization you would like to work for?
