I applied for the role on the company website. I was then contacted by a recruiter by email asking to arrange a time to set up an introductory phone interview with them. The phone interview started five minutes late and wasn't a great experience from my perspective. The recruiter didn't give any introductory information regarding the role, themselves, or the team and generally didn't sound enthusiastic to be on the call.
They went straight into questions about my professional experience, where we talked about my previous role, projects I'd worked on, what my role had been and lots of situational questions about balancing projects and managing stakeholders. All of that was fine and went well from my perspective.
The recruiter then abruptly wrapped up the call without giving me the chance to ask any questions. I was told that management would be meeting the following week and that I could expect an update shortly after that regarding next steps.
I was contacted by the recruiter by email the following week telling me I hadn't been successful and that they were going with another candidate, which I totally understand.
I'm leaving a negative review because I think the head of recruitment should be aware of my experience. While the recruiter I dealt with wasn't objectively rude to me, the experience from my perspective was bad. They were late to the call, didn't introduce the role, went straight into the minutia of my experience and didn't ask any questions that would help her get to know me as a person and wrapped up the call without giving me a chance to ask them any questions.
That being said, this experience wouldn't deter me from applying to Instrument in the future. I've heard amazing things about the leadership, company mission and team culture from folks I know who either work there now or have worked there in the past. I'm hopeful that I can be an asset to them at some point down the line!
