I applied to this company online, and went through an initial phone screen with HR. They notified me a couple weeks later that they were offering the position to someone else. Another week and a half later, they came back to me to tell me that the person they offered to, had declined the offer.
I proceeded with a phone interview with the prospective manager. Within two weeks, I was asked to my first round of onsite interviews, with an engineer, a project manager, and the prospective manager. That took 2-3 hours. After that round, I was asked to come back a week later, for another round of onsite interviews, with four mid and upper level managers, and dinner with the prospective manager. I was quoted that they were preparing an offer for me, and just wanted to get me in to talk to a few more colleagues who could answer my questions about the company. This round took about 4 hours.
A week later, the prospective manager left me a voicemail saying they were going to continue their search. And not long after that, I noticed that all of their recruiting was being done by a staffing agency.
All I can sum up about my interview experience is that I hope that it isn't typical.
