My initial conversation was with a recruiter, who did a simple phone interview. This discussion was casual in nature, and discussed the basic job requirements, expectations and salary. I was then asked to come in to interview in person.
I was interviewed in person by four different people, on two separate visits to the offices. My initial "in person" interview was handled by the recruiter who I spoke with on the phone. I wore a full suit, and was told several times, kindly, that I was overdressed. He went over my resume (which they asked me to bring several copies of), and questioned me on past job experience, sales skills, etc. He then brought in 2 department managers (one at a time), which asked basically the same questions that the recruited did. The interviews were very casual, in my experience. After meeting with the managers, the recruiter asked me to come back later that week to meet with the director of the department. We scheduled a time, and I left feeling pretty good about my chances.
I met with the director later a few days later - again a very casual interview. This interview was almost identical to meeting with the managers earlier that week.
I was not offered a job in person, but it was hinted at several times. The recruiter called me back the next week, and offered me a position, with a small signing bonus. He told me that I would not be starting for about 3 weeks, as they train once a month. This fit into my schedule without issue.
After the 2nd visit to the office, I was asked to fill out a background/credit check authorization. I'm pretty sure neither of which were ever completed, as I know my credit was never ran by the company, even though i had authorized it. No big deal.
Negative: The recruiter, while very nice and helpful, told me the estimated first year salary was about $10k more than is realistic. Take it with a grain of salt - it is a commission sales job, so salaries vary, but the figure he mentioned was high, even for a skilled salesperson.
